Discussion Held on Human Rights Draft Law

Today /2014.04.09/, an open discussion on draft law on human rights was held at the Citizen’s Chamber under the President of Mongolia. This law draft was implemented to make amendment to the law on the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia, adopted by the State Great Khural on 7 December 2000.

Opening the discussion, Human Rights and Legal Policy Advisor to the President Ch.Unurbayar noted: “At the initiative of the President of Mongolia, Program to intensify Judicial Reform was approved and in the scope of implementing the Program, judicial laws and regulations have been changed. Now the Government of Mongolia is implementing the reform in the scope of protection of justice system of Mongolia.

The President of Mongolia initiated “From a Big Government to a Smart Government” last year, in order to continuing legal policy reform and establishing rule of law. Accordingly, law draft on human rights was implemented. Previously, laws and regulations for particular organizations were approved. But in generally, these public organizations are dedicated to protect human rights. Therefore, we aim to amend the law on the National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia to Human rights law.
