Mongolian Ganjuur Sutra registered with UNESCO

In more cultural developments, UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova has officially presented Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Bold with a certificate for the registration of Ganjuur Sutra as a unique cultural heritage of Mongolia on UNESCO's World Tangible Heritage list.
The sutra is the third masterpiece of Mongolia placed on the UNESCO list. The Ganjuur Sutra, consisting of 108 volumes, was made of nine precious stones and metals in 1819, including gold, silver, coral, pearl, turquoise, azure, nacre and steel. Mongolia has enriched the UNESCO Intangible Heritage list with Naadam, khoomii throat singing, long song, eagle festival, and the morin khuur. Mongolia has also contributed to the World Heritage in Danger with the Mongolian epic, Mongolian flute playing, biyelgee folk dance, and native musical instrument the tsuur.
