Osco odihr director visits Mongolia

The OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Director Janez Lenarčič paid a working visit to Mongolia on June 17 to 20.

The ODIHR delegation held meetings with officials from the governments, political parties and representatives of the civil society and media on a report on the observation of presidential elections in Mongolia in 2013 and a follow-up recommendation.

The OSCE observers crew members had meetings with Vice Speaker of the State Great Khural (Parliament) and officials from the President’s Office, General Election Committee, National Commission for Human Rights, Constitutional Court, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Supreme Court and other institutions to hand over the ODIHR report and discuss cooperation issues.

At the meetings, Ambassador Janez Lenarčič mentioned that Mongolia set an example for its successful organization of the presidential elections and expressed confidence that Mongolia will fulfill its obligations undertaken before the OSCE and implement the recommendation.
