On December 11, 2014, the Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation / MCC / of the United States, Ms. Dana Hyde spoke over phone with President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj to inform that Mongolia has been selected by the MCC’s Board of Directors as eligible to develop a second MCC compact.
Ms. Dana Hyde underlined that Mongolia has been selected for its contribution to enhancing good governance and noted that MCC will focus on few development projects in Mongolia. Also MCC will pay attention to improve legal environment and implement projects consistent with the policies and measures of the Government of Mongolia. Ms. Dana Hyde said that MCC will promote private sector involvement, enhance partnership between state and private entities, improving business and investment environment.
President Elbegdorj expressed gratitude to all members of the Board of Directors of the MCC and noted that this decision demonstrates the United States’ significance to the bilateral relations of the two countries and democratic development in Mongolia.
MCC Board of Directors voted to make Mongolia, Philippines and Nepal eligible for a compact and selected Cote d’Ivore for Threshold Program, approving efforts to continue developing compacts with six previously selected countries.
