President Expressed Position on the Candidacy for the Minister of Industry and Agriculture

Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag sent a letter of compromise to the President regarding the appointment of Member of Parliament Sh.Tuvdendorj as the Minister of Industry and Agriculture. Today, President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj responded the letter expressing his view on this issue.

In his reply President said: “I have received the letter of compromise on the appointment of Member of Parliament Sh.Tuvdendorj as the Minister of Industry and Agriculture. We have the opportunity to begin the separation process between the legislative and executive bodies by addressing this appointment issue. A Member of Parliament should not be promoted as the Minister or a Member of Parliament should not simultaneously hold two posts, Member of Parliament and a Member of Cabinet.

Therefore, I, President of Mongolia, reject Prime Minister’s proposal to promote a Member of Parliament as a Member of Cabinet. Please, reconsider the appointment proposal paying attention above mentioned necessities, lessons and opportunities in the Mongolian state”.
