The Ambassador of Mongolia to Turkey, B.Batkhishig met with  Chairman of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities, Kemal Yurtnaç, to discuss issues concerning Mongolian students studying in Turkey.

In 2011, 95 Mongolian students were studying in Turkish universities with the help of scholarship programs provided by the Government of Turkey. This number fell to 52 in 2012, and 47 in 2013.  The Mongolian ambassador spoke about increasing and maintaining the annual number of Mongolian students in scholarship programs at minimum of 90.

Kemal Yurtnaç said that it is possible to increase the number of Mongolian students once they pass admissions exams and meet certain requirements. He also backed the Ambassador’s requests, referencing a proposal made by the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia on the subjects that Mongolian students will major in, and including the ministry’s representatives in the admissions commission.

Since 1992, the government and scholarship foundations of Turkey have granted scholarships to about 1,000 Mongolian students. Presently, some 850 Mongolians are studying in Turkey.
