
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Mr. L.Bold received U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia, Ms Piper Campbell and Country Director of Peace Corps/ Mongolia, Ms Darlene Grant at the Government House on May 8.
Minister L.Bold highlighted an important role of Peace Corps volunteers in forwarding Mongolia-U.S. relations and cooperation, especially people-to-people contact and expressed Mongolia’s willingness to continue productive cooperation with the organization.
According to Ms. Darlene Grant, Peace Corps volunteers are assigned for two-year term and most volunteers working in Mongolia, drawn by Mongolians’ hospitality and tradition, extend their mission for one more year.
The Peace Corps has been operating in Mongolia since 1991 and more than 1000 volunteers have worked in the country so far. The Peace Corps implement 4 programs in Mongolia on English Education and Community Development, Community based Health, Community Youth Development and Community and Economic Development. Currently, there are 109 volunteers working in all province of Mongolia. The Peace Corps in Mongolia is set to be added by about 90 volunteer workers this year.
