President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj forwarded an initiative on Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security at the 7th ministerial conference of the Community of Democracies in April 2013. Thereby, Mongolia pursues an aim to make its contribution to the solution by peaceful means security issue the region is confronted with.

Within the initiative, a forum of women parliamentarians of Northeast Asia was for the first time hosted in Mongolia in 2013. Mongolia plans to host a forum of mayors of Northeast Asian cities this year as well. In this term, the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue is not a single action, but a mechanism of trilateral or multilateral dialogues depending on agenda. The main principle of the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue is to contribute to seeking ways for tackling any complicated matters of the region.

The upcoming conference is the first international scientific conference to be convened within Ulaanbaatar Dialogue initiative and expected to attend by over 100 scholars and researchers from six Northeast Asian countries which are Mongolia, North Korea, the Republic of Korea, China, Russia and Japan as well as the United States and EU. The conference is aiming at promoting the Ulaanbaatar Dialogue and listening to recommendations by foreign scholars.
