Today /2014.06.12/ President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj officially welcomed President of the Republic of Latvia Andris Bērziņš at the Chinggis’s Square.

Together with the President of Latvia, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Andrejs Klementjevs, Minister of Foreign Affairs Edgars Rinkēvičs, Minister of Education and Science Ina Druviete, Minister of Agriculture Jānis Dūklavs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Mongolia Ingrīda Levrence, Head of the Chancery of the President of the Republic of Latvia Gundars Daudze from the Republic of Latvia, Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold, Ambassador of Mongolia to the Republic of Latvia A.Ganbaatar, Minister of Education and Science, Member of Parliament L.Gantumur, Minister of Transportation A.Gansukh, Governor and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar city E.Bat-Uul, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President P.Tsagaan, National Security and Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia L.Purevsuren were present at the ceremony.

After welcoming the honorable guest, President of Latvia showed respect to the Chinggis Khaan’s Statue and signed the guestbook.

Later, President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj held a tete-a-tete with the President of Latvia Andris Berzins in the State Affairs Ger Palace. During the meeting, President of Mongolia said, “I would like to extend my greeting and welcome Your Excellency to Mongolia. Our two countries have many things in common. In 1990 Mongolia made democratic transition without shattering a single window and shedding a single drop of blood. Mongolia has been expanding relations and cooperation between neighboring countries. I believe that this state visit from Latvia will give a strong impetus on increasing the cooperation between two countries. As a landlocked country, Mongolia is interested in increasing economic cooperation with Latvia and European Union through Latvia’s sea port. We have great potential to cooperate. Also, Mongolia has successfully led Community of Democracies and recently transferred the presidency. People of Mongolia will work hard to develop trust, relations and cooperation between countries worldwide.”

President of Latvia Andris Berzins stated, “I truly appreciate the warm welcome of the people of Mongolia. As Your Excellency has said, our countries have many things in common. I have a high impression of Mongolia. Poland, Finland and Latvia are the east border of European Union, thus, we play a great role on European Union. I fully support the initiative to cooperate between two countries.” The tete-a-tete between the Presidents of Mongolia and Latvia ended successfully, followed by the talks of two countries.
