Today /2014.06.23/ President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj received Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Ivanovna Matviyenko. Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko is conducting an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of Speaker of the State Great Khural Z.Enkhbold.

Chairperson of the Federation Council Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko said that she is truly pleased to pay visit to the beautiful country of Mongolia and conveyed President of Russia Vladimir Putin’s sincere greetings to President Elbegdorj. President of Russia, Mr. Vladimir Putin mentioned in his greetings that he held a private meeting with President Elbegdorj in Shanghai during the participation at the Fourth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia and underscored the importance of regular exchanges of high-level visits between the two countries.

Chairperson of the Federation Council Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko noted that the bilateral relations have been successfully developing at strategic partnership level. Mrs. Valentina Matviyenko emphasized the successful operations of the Mongolian-Russian joint ventures and successful implementation of the bilateral agreements on economic partnership to 2015.

At the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities to restore the mutual visa-free travel system between the countries, jointly develop light industry and organize business forum. Two remarkable events that are related to the history of the two countries will be celebrated near future. This August the 75th anniversary of the victory of the battle of Khalkhin Gol and on May, 2015, Victory Day will be marked.

President Elbegdorj noted that during the meeting in Shanghai, he invited President Putin to visit Mongolia this August as part of the 75th anniversary celebrations of the Soviet-Mongolian victory at Khalkhin-Gol and proposed to organize Russia-China-Mongolia trilateral dialogue on transit transportation issues in Ulaanbaatar.
President Elbegdorj conveyed warm greetings to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
