On July 8, President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj received Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev. 

Mr. Djoomart Otorbaev conveyed President of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev’s greetings to President Elbegdorj and said that the people of Kyrgyzstan highly value President Elbegdorj’s state visit to Bishkek in 2012. Also, Mr. Djoomart Otorbaev conveyed an invitation from President of Kyrgyzstan to President Elbegdorj to visit Kyrgyzstan to attend the World Nomad Games that will take place in September, 2014. Wrestling, horse racing and traditional nomadic games are included in the World Nomad Games.

Prime Minister Djoomart Otorbaev expressed Kyrgyzstan’s interest to learn Mongolia’s model, experiences and principles of democratic transition, market economy, human rights and democratic, fair elections. He emphasized that Mongolia and Kyrgyzstan have many similarities, such as tradition, way of living, culture and history and that is why Mongolia’s model of democracy meet Kyrgyzstan’s need. Prime Minister said that there are ample opportunities for two countries to develop cooperation in mining, cattle breeding and tourism sector. He underlined possibilities for Mongolian business people may come to Kyrgyzstan to cooperate in agriculture and farming, because Kyrgyzstan has very pleasant weather.

President Elbegdorj noted the importance of fair registration of voters and using electronic voting machines during the elections. President said that it is important to exchange representatives, particularly Parliament Members between the two countries to sharing mutual experiences.

President underlined that he launched “From a Big Government to a Smart Government” initiative and in the scope of this initiative, Budget Transparency Law passed by the Parliament and draft Law on Public Hearing submitted to the Parliament, and Law on Accountability of Elected and Appointed Officials and General Administrative Law has been implemented. He mentioned that Mongolia is shifting from electoral democracy to direct democracy, promoting civic participation. President said that the Honorary Consulate of Mongolia has been opened in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
