Prime Minister of the Republic of Kyrgyz Djoomart Otorbaev is paying a working visit to Mongolia on July 8 to 12 upon the invitation of Prime Minister of Mongolia N.Altankhuyag.

Prime Minister Djoomart Otorbaev paid a courtesy call on President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj. Mr. D.Otorbaev handed over to the Mongolian President an invitation to World Nomads Festival to be hosted in September 2014 in Kyrgyz. Kyrgyz is interested in studying Mongolia’s experience and model of developing democracy and market economy since Mongolia’s model suits more for the two countries have many similarities in culture, traditions, lifestyle and history. There wide opportunities for the cooperation in the mining, tourism and animal husbandry areas.

President Ts.Elbegdorj said the honest and fair registration of voters and electronic voting system is of crucial importance for democratic elections. Exchanges of parliament members, delegates and individuals are important as well.

The President said an initiative “From a big government to a smart government” has been carried out within which a bill on transparent account was passed by the State Great Khural (Parliament). Mongolia is working for transiting from electoral democracy to direct in order to ensure more citizens’ participation. He also mentioned that Mongolia will open its Consulate General in Bishkek city shortly.

Prime Minister D.Otorbaev paid a courtesy call on Parliament Speaker Z.Enkhbold. The latter noted with pleasure that Mongolia-Kyrgyz relations has been increasingly developing and frequency of top and high-level visits and dialogues has been increased in recent years. Mongolia stands for intensifying bilateral relations and cooperation with Kyrgyz which is an important partner in Central Asia. Friendship groups at parliaments play a prominent role in stimulation of inter-parliamentary collaboration. The two states have a great potential for cooperation in the areas of culture, history and tourism and for the protection and promotion of nomadic culture.

Prime Ministers of Mongolia and Kyrgyz held official talks. Afterwards, the heads of government made a briefing for the media.  Mongolian Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag emphasized that the working visit of his Kyrgyz counterpart D.Otorbaev is opening a new page in the history of bilateral relations and cooperation and said Mongolia is ready for supporting and cooperating with Kyrgyz in developing the parliamentary democracy. The sides talked about civil registration and electoral system in Mongolia, ensuring access to the public service and came to terms with forwarding bilateral economic cooperation.

The Kyrgyz Prime Minister noted that Mongolia’s experience in establishing parliamentary democracy is conducive for Kyrgyz and highlighted possibilities for further cooperation in the mining, animal husbandry and tourism sectors.
