Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia L.Bold attended as a Guest of Honor in the 47th ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting which was held on August 8-9, 2014 in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar.

Participating in the Foreign Ministers meeting is a significant event for Mongolia as it aims to advance its foreign policy priority to ensure active participation in the Asia Pacific integration. Minister L.Bold held a press conference for media at the ASEAN Press Center on first day of the meeting and gave detailed information about Mongolia’s policy on international and regional cooperation as well as introduced the policy and activities carried out by Mongolia in order to become a Dialogue Partner of ASEAN.

During the press conference, Minister L.Bold answered questions from Japanese, South Korean, Singaporean and Myanmarese journalists about Mongolian foreign policy for its two neighbor countries, Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security initiated by Mongolia and Mongolia’s relations with ASEAN and other international organizations. Mr. L.Bold paid a courtesy call on the President of Myanmar, Thein Sein and held a bilateral talk with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, Wunna Maung Lwin.

During the visit, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia was signed which became an important event for strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting has been followed by some broad ranges activities such as the ASEAN East Asia Summit and ASEAN regional ministers’ meeting where Minister L.Bold is participating and holding mutual talks with his counterparts from ASEAN member states.
