
The sub commission on regional and border cooperation of the Mongolian-Russian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation held its XI meeting in Moscow on August 25. The meeting was particular for being hosted before a state visit of the President of the Russian Federation to Mongolia and after three years when the previous one was hosted in Ulaanbaatar in 2011.
The national parts were headed by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia D.Gankhuyag and Deputy Minister of Regional Development of Russia V.V.Kopylov respectively.
The sides agreed on improving the legal environment for bilateral regional and border cooperation, particularly, on accelerating the process of the establishment of a protocol on amending intergovernmental agreement on crossing Mongolia-Russia border and border checkpoints in easier way. The sides discussed an issue on establishment of a protocol on studying possibilities for the mutual facilitation of customs inspection and control regulations and mutual recognition of results of customs inspection of some kinds of goods.
An agreement was also reached on the conclusion of an intergovernmental agreement and a plan of actions for intensification of bilateral regional and border cooperation targeting at the promotion of bilateral trade and economic collaboration.
The meeting touched upon issues on studying feasibilities for increasing Mongolia’s export of meat and meat products to Russia and holding annual meetings and forums on regional and border cooperation as well.
