Yesterday, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Mongolia Mr. Omar L. Marrero Betancourt presented letters of credence to the President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj. After President held a meeting with Ambassador and discussed about the relationship between the two countries.

Ambassador Omar L. Marrero conveyed the sincere greetings from the President of Cuba Raul Castro to the President of Mongolia. Ambassador said that President Raul Castro remembered that he visited Mongolia in 1970 and was treated with airag, and he conveyed President Raul Castro’s willingness to visit Mongolia once again.

President Elbegdorj noted that there are ample opportunities to expand bilateral relations and exchange high-level visits between the two countries. President underlined that there was a time when many Mongolian students studied in Cuba and both countries exchanged number of high-level visits.

Ambassador Omar L. Marrero expressed that he will make his own contribution to improve and bring Mongolia-Cuba relations to a new stage of development. With strongly developed health sector, Cuba produces high quality drugs, medications, vaccines and medical equipments. Ambassador said that Cuba is successfully developing medical tourism and noted with satisfaction the Mongolian and Cuban boxers dominate world-class competitions.

President Elbegdorj said that he is glad that the former Cuban leader Fidel Castro is in good health and expressed Mongolia’s readiness to accept high-level visit from Cuba. Also President conveyed his warm greetings to the President of Cuba Raul Castro.
