Mongolia's multilateral cooperation welcomed

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Mr. L.Bold attended several high-level events held during the 69th session of UN General Assembly to present Mongolia’s multilateral cooperation policy and activities.

LLDCs MINISTERS MEETS

Ministers of landlocked developing countries (LLDCs) taking part in the 69th session of UN General Assembly held their 13th meeting to discuss challenges and problems LLDCs face and ways of cooperation and support are needed to provide by international communities including UN to tackle them in.

As a landlocked developing country, Mongolia has initiated a certain number of works within UN and World Trade Organization in order to attract the international communities to an issue of enhancing the competitiveness of LLDCs.  Last year, in particular, Mongolia initiated and set up LLDCs Think Tank in Ulaanbaatar charged to conduct pertinent surveys and researches and issue policy recommendations on this matter. Mongolia will go on working for the development of LLDCs Think Tank into an official UN system organization, Mr. L.Bold stated.

The Minister held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Gyan Chandra Acharya, Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States to discuss collaboration issues.

Minister L.Bold thanked Mr. Gyan Chandra Acharya for providing support in hosting high-level international workshop on “WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation: Implications for LLDCs” in Ulaanbaatar and his personal participation in it.

Mr. Gyan Acharya re-affirmed that the Prime Minister of Mongolia is invited to the 2nd UN Conference on LLDCs to take place in Vienna in November 2014.

PEACEKEEPING MISSION IS ONE OF THE MAIN GOALS

“Mongolia is ready to expand its cooperation with the international community in the peacekeeping mission area,” Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia L.Bold stated addressing conferences and events on the pertinent topic.

Mr L.Bold attended a ministerial-level dinner on “Strengthening the Partnership: A Fresh Dialogue on UN Peacekeeping,” held on September 25 and a summit on international peacekeeping operations.

Afterwards, Minister L.Bold participated in OSCE Ministerial Meeting which addressed the developments in Ukraine and addressed the 7th Ministerial Meeting of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty.

 Minister L.Bold had a meeting with CTBTO Executive Secretary Lassina Zerbo. The latter welcomed Mongolia’s initiatives on Ulaanbaatar Dialogue on Northeast Asian Security and Nuclear Free Status of Mongolia and noted that CTBTO is interested in so-organizing with Mongolia a regional workshop in Ulaanbaatar.
