National Tree Planting Day Marked in Mongolia

2014-10-13 12:04:24

According to the Presidential Decree dated from April 14, 2010, the National Tree Planting Day in Mongolia was announced to be organized on the second Saturday of May and October respectively of each year. Hence, National Tree Planting Day is being marked nationwide for the ninth time and over 7 million trees were planted in the territory of Mongolia.

Today, President Elbegdorj contributed to the National Tree Planting Day, planting trees in the garden of the Forestry Development Center in Sukhbaatar District and got acquainted with the activities of the company “UBT.

President Elbegdorj noted: “Taking care and watering trees is more important than planting trees. Planting and caring for trees is like raising a child. They need everyday care. I would like to wish “May trees of Mongolia grow many” like a wish “May children of Mongolia grow many”. A human consumes a significant amount of air and water for a lifetime. A single tree can produce enough oxygen to support several people. We should understand our nature. Trees were created by the nature itself. Planting trees is our commitment and great contribution to the world nature. I’m truly glad that the law-makers and policy-makers joined this initiative, working with us”.

Last May, during the National Tree Planting Day, President Elbegdorj noted at the interview that he has set himself the goal to plant 3 million trees and for now he has planted some 20 thousand trees and prepared over 500 thousand saplings.
