President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj is paying an official visit to Austria on October 14 and 15. During the visit, President Elbegdorj had an official meeting with President of Austria Heinz Fischer and made a briefing for the media.

President Ts.Elbegdorj said Mongolia and Austria are nations both having great historical and cultural traditions and heritage. Mongolia and Austria share many common things. Both countries respect human rights, freedom, justice and democracy. Austria is one of the first states to establish both diplomatic and trade relations with Mongolia. The two countries have great opportunities for the cooperation in many fields, for instance, energy, agriculture, tourism, education and culture.

Afterwards, President Elbegdorj met with President of the National Council Doris Bures, visited UN Office at Vienna, held a meeting with his fellow country people living in that country and addressed a Mongolia-Austria business forum.

At a meeting with Second President of the National Council Karlheinz Kopf, President Ts.Elbegdorj noted that a Mongolia-Austria group works at the State Great Khural (Parliament). Activities and connections of such parliamentary groups have a particular significance for bilateral relations and cooperation. Expressing a hope that a Austria-Mongolia friendship group would be set up at the National Council of Austria as well, Mr. Elbegdorj added the Mongolian side is interested in establishing contacts between the parliamentary groups, sharing information and experiences and hosting reciprocal visits.
