Today, President Elbegdorj received representatives from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology / MIT /, one of the top 100 world universities. Upon the invitation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia, representatives of the MIT are visiting Mongolia to get acquainted with the activities of Mongolian universities. At the meeting, President Elbegdorj noted: “It is very important and we give great importance to the partnership between the MIT and Mongolian universities. This partnership will be fully supported by the President of Mongolia as well as the Government of Mongolia. I believe that this partnership would give certain impetus to the development of our country. I hope that this partnership, based on the education and science field, would be the fundament to bring into Mongolia the world class education. I hope that Mongolia would be an education hub in the region by expanding such partnership. Mongolian education sector will make good progress by attracting internationally recognized scientists and teachers”.

In a response, representatives from the MIT said: “Thank you, Mr. President of Mongolia for taking time to welcome us. We know that you are highly educated person. Representing the MIT, we have three reasons to cooperate with the Mongolian universities. Firstly, Mongolia has a long history and is a country of young people. Secondly, there is an opportunity to develop Mongolian technology science through technology education. Thirdly, Mongolia has a large territory but small population. There is a positive environment for the project and we expect rapid results. Mongolians respectful approach toward education inspires us to implement the project”.

By cooperating with the MIT, Mongolian universities would be able to provide the top education programs of the world. Also, it was said that the President’s Decree to grant Mongolian Government Scholarship Program for students who have been selected by world top 100 ranked universities, is closely related with the current event. President expressed his hope that Mongolia will be the education and technology hub in the region and provide high quality education services that can be accessed by the students from other countries.
