Today /2014-04-16/, President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj issued a Decree on giving directions to the Government on fighting against illegal logging in Mongolia. Chief of Staff of the Presidential Office P.Tsagaan handed over the Presidential Decree to Member of Parliament, Minster of Environment and Green Development S.Oyun and Director of General Agency for Specialized Inspection D.Batmunkh.
The Decree was signed by President Elbegdorj and Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag.

One. By the Decree, President of Mongolia gives the following directions to the Government to intensify actions of state organizations against illegal logging, improve coherence and increase public and Non-Government Organizations participation.
1. To analyze and monitor results of laws and regulations implemented by the Government, determine future policies, approve measures in the scope of the policy and ensure implementation.

2. To ensure implementation of laws and regulations, make amendments to the Forest law on promoting civic engagement, organizing volunteer groups and identifying financial source of reward for information, volunteer groups and police officers.
3. To improve actions, coherence and monitoring of the state organizations and establish good governance and sustainable management system which meets the needs of people.

4. To seize and confiscate all types of equipment and vehicles used in illegal logging and illegal logging profits, monetary reward is to be considered for anyone who provides information on illegal logging, volunteer, preservationist and police officer who made contribution to fighting against illegal timber trade.

Two. Implementation expenses of the Presidential Decree must be included in the annual state budget and Prime Minster undertakes to inform the President of Mongolia and the public regarding the implementation process.
