The capital administrators have ratified the budget for the upcoming New Year’s celebration. This year’s budget is 40 thousand tugrik more than last year's. The additional budget will be spent on an event that will be held on the eve of December 31st at Chinggis Square.
Mongolia is aiming to host this New Year’s Eve without technical setbacks this year. During last year’s celebration, UB administrators faced many technical difficulties, which included trouble transmitting LED displays in parts of the city. Last year's experience has led city administrators to pay greater attention to the details. Another reason for this year's bigger budget are larger displays and improved audio.
The organizers say that the New Year’s Eve celebration will have more features than previous years. An ice-skating rink will be installed at Chinggis Square next Sunday and a lighting ceremony for the New Year tree in the square will also take place. Other surprises are planned for residents, says the organizing team.
The closing event in the upcoming celebration will be a gun salute. This will be held in four other locations around the city, all scheduled to take place at the same time.
