President’s Office and the Asia Foundation co-hosted a two day workshop “Fostering Civic Engagement at Sub-national Level” /FOCE/ at the Citizen’s Chamber under the President of Mongolia. The project FOCE is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation /SDC/, and implemented by the Asia Foundation in 6 Aimags of Mongolia. The workshop brought together about 60 representatives of 14 Soums of 6 Aimags, and 3 Khoroos of the capital city.

Citizen Participation and Economic Policy Advisor to the President L.Dashdorj opened the workshop and SDC’s Governance and Decentralization Program Manager Jack Mera and the Asia Foundation's country representative in Mongolia Meloney Lindberg delivered closing remarks.

At the workshop, representatives discussed and exchanged views on establishing civil society organizations, citizen’s participation in resolving social problems, achievements and lessons of economic partnership, hosting public discussions in local areas and other issues. Also, they touched upon issues of organizing open discussions in local Citizen’s Chambers.
