On the sidelines of a Working Visit to the Russian Federation, President Elbegdorj welcomed Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Russian Chairman of the Mongolia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission, Sergey Yefimovich Donskoi who paid a courtesy call on the President of Mongolia. From Mongolian side, Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Purevsuren, Chief of Staff of the Office of the President P.Tsagaan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation Sh.Altangerel and from Russian side, Director of Department for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Inamov Nuritdin Rakhmanjanovich, Head of Department of Intergovernmental Cooperation’s Division of Department for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Balakirovna Anna Vladimirovna and other officials were present at the meeting.

President Elbegdorj extended his profound congratulations to the people of Russia on the 70th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and noted: “The people of Mongolia are widely celebrating the Anniversary too. It has been a quite a long time since the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin’s visit to Mongolia. Some works have been implemented which were agreed during his visit. For instance, an agreement on visa-free travel entered into force between Russia and Mongolia on November 14, 2014. Since November, the number of people passing through the border ports has doubled. Hence, there is a need for increasing the capacity of border crossing points”.

The parties noted that the Mongolia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission is a mechanism for addressing the various issues related to the bilateral relations and agreed to pay a close attention to enhancing the Commission’s activities, to optimizing its structure and to the implementation of the decisions that have been made. Additionally, both sides have exchanged views over various issues of mutual cooperation.
