On June 16, 2015, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Mongolia Ms. Catherine Arnold presented her credentials to President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj.

Then President Elbegdorj welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador and noted that the people of Mongolia highly value strong bilateral relations with the UK as Mongolians remain grateful to the British Government for being the first Western state to recognize Mongolia and establish diplomatic relations back in 1963.

The President highlighted that the political relations as well as economic and investment cooperation between Mongolia and the United Kingdom have been developing dynamically. He said that the several mining companies of the UK are cooperating with Mongolia and developing partnership agreements with the Mongolian companies.

President Elbegdorj noted: “I would like to highlight the importance of supporting the economic cooperation by mutual exchange of high level visits. In this regard, I reiterate that His Royal Highness Prince Harry has a standing invitation to visit Mongolia. I express my faith that the schedule of the Right Honorable David Cameron, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, allows him to attend the ASEM Summit in 2016 in Ulaanbaatar”.

President Elbegdorj also informed that Mongolia will celebrate its 25th anniversary of the first free democratic elections on July 29 this year and said that Mongolia looks forward to hosting a dignitary from the UK for this event.
